Geaux Tigers??

My cousin Felicia was nice enough to let us use lots of her girls things like pack and play and tons of clothes and shoes. All she wanted in return was a picture of Laiken in the infamous LSU outfit. Since we are Longhorns fans we tried to resist but she brought it up again the other day I figured we have to give in...especially since we caught her cheering on the Longhorns after the OU win! So here is our chunky monkey stuffed into this 0-3 month outfit that Felicia insisted she wear...I don't think she was very happy about it either. At least not until we bribed her with a new longhorns outfit!

We think she looks better in burnt orange!!

Family in Need

The Flege Family is in need right now. All the details are on their site but the short of it is that they are a one income family who is now a no income family while Dad recovers from open heart surgery. They have three kiddos and the youngest, Mayson, is chomosomally enhanced like Laiken. An online auction is being held for them and each dollar donated gets your name in the pot for each item you bid on. The winner will be chosen at random. Half Birthday!!

So Laiky-Poo is six months old and I am feeling pretty sad about it. Glad she is growing and thriving, especially after a rocky start, but sad that my little 6lb 10 oz newborn baby is now half a year old and getting big everyday. She has the sweetest smile and makes us laugh daily. Laiken has mastered blowing raspberries, smiling, eating off her spoon, and we are working on the sippy cup. Not quite sitting by herself but we are working on it. Her geneticist said DS babies tend to master this closer to 8-9 months so we will see. She will stand although she seems to be a bit lazy with her legs right now, Nana, Mommy and Daddy try to work with her on that daily. Bouncer, and play gym seem to be her favorite toys right now and she really gets into boxing them around. I will have to get some video of it, she really bops them around!

Buddy Walk 2009

Hey Everyone,

Our very first Buddy Walk is coming up very quickly and we are so close to reaching our goal of $1000. It is not too late to walk with us or donate. Any and every little bit helps, this is one of two big fundraisers that the Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County does each year. The proceeds help for new parent packets and swim parties and things of that nature throughout the year. We all know times are tough right now but please try to dig deep and give whatever you can for this great cause. The walk is being held October 24, 2009 @ 10 AM at River Legacy Park in Arlington. They have face painting, bounce houses, food and entertainment out there and the actual walk is just a quick mile. Here is the link to Laiken's Legion

6 Month Check-up

Laiken is officially a chunky monkey weighing in at 13 lbs 12 ozs and 25 inches long!! YAY Laiken!!! We met our new pediatrician today and we absolutely loved him...he also has a daughter with Down syndrome and therefore knows a little more about some of the special needs for Laiken. He also said how beautiful she was and gave her a big ole smootch on the forehead! Too Sweet. Anyway, we are glad to not have to worry about her weight so much now that her ticker is on track.
