Two Weeks Old!!

We can't believe our baby is two weeks old already. =( Before we know it she will be two years old! We keep trying to find a way to slow down time but it's not working, so instead we are trying to win the lotto. =)

Birth Story!

I have been trying to finish this for a while now as you can see. =/ Anyhow, we were admitted on Wednesday evening around 9:30 after being told to get there at 6PM. Thankfully, Kenzi had come by to check on us and inform us that labor & delivery had been quite hectic. So I am given Cervidil around 10 PM and was very anxious. At 8AM the next morning my Pitocin was started and by 9 AM I was dilated to a 1 and my water was broken. Then the contractions came, they were easy at first but by about 12:30 I was dilated to 3-4 and the contractions were coming right on top of each other with no break in between so we decided it was epidural time. Now I had been terrified of getting an epidural after reading a few horror stories but after going through it I think epidurals are pure heaven!! Now that I was comfortable I only dilated to 4-5 by 4 PM and figured we were in for a very long night. By about 9:45 I was checked by Dr. Z and was at a 6 so he told me we were definitely having this baby tonight on way or another...another meaning c-section, which was another thing I feared. So I sat myself up in bed and tried to picture myself dilating and Laiken coming naturally. Well, I must have done something because my epidural completely quit on me and these contractions were intense and right on top of one another! Luckily, an anesthesiologist was only about 5 minutes away but boy did that 5 minutes feel like an eternity!! So once I was completely numb again...about 2 minutes later...my nurse checked me and I was at a 10 and ready to go!! About 10:10 we start the pushing and after a couple "practice" pushes we were told the nurse could see a head full of black hair! Well as I have said before I was bald so a head full of hair was not what I was expecting to hear at all! Dr. Z was quickly paged in, as was a neonatal team for Laiken and after a couple more pushes at 10:33 PM on April 16, 2009 little Laiken Reese was brought into the world screaming at the top of her precious little lungs!! Here are some more pics from then:
