Happy Birthday Mama!!

I had a great 28th birthday, We went to eat at Chef Point (Thanks for the idea Amber!) and Laiken and her Daddy got me a brand new camera!! I don't know anything about cameras but it is a Canon PowerShot and I love it! Here are some pictures we took with it on my birthday:

A Weekend of Firsts

For starters, this was our first week home from the hospital...and can I just say I think we have the best friends and family ever! Oh, and co-workers...can't leave them out...Laiken was showered with gifts galore and I think the presents and prayers did the trick since we made it home in record time!! Thanks again everyone!!!

Laiken had her very first solids over Labor Day weekend...avocado and rice cereal! Here are a few pictures...I think you can tell which one she liked better!!! Hint, Hint...she is a quarter Mexican! =)

Home Sweet Home

Yes you heard it right, we are home! Can you believe it, only four days in the hospital for open heart surgery...have you ever heard of such a thing?!? We are excited to say the least!

Yesterday and today Laiken has been eating a ton and in such a good mood it is hard to believe she is just a few days out from a major surgery. We are so proud of our little girl and think she is simply amazing. I will leave you with some pictures...

Update

Laiken got her own room yesterday and is recovering beautifully! As long as everything continues the way it has been we will be going home tomorrow. I keep trying to post pictures and have run into problem after problem. Mandy posted the pictures I was going to put up so you can go to her blog and check them out for now until I get a chance to get them up.

Cook Children's is a truly amazing place, we have been so pleased with everyone we have met here and how much they really care for all the kiddos around here! I don't think she would be doing as great as she is without their care and that goes for us as well.

Well, you may not hear from us for a while...especially if we get to come home tomorrow but please continue to keep Laiken in your prayers as she recovers!

Finally!!

Laiken is doing great, sorry for not updating sooner! She is still in the cardiac PICU but she is breathing on her own and they removed her chest tube today and there is already some talk of her possibly getting her own room tomorrow. Laiken is one amazing little girl and as much as we hate her having to go through all of this she is taking it like a champ...fortunately she came from a long line of strong women. =) We are so proud of our daughter, Laiken-dini, like Houdini~cause she is magical!

Surgery

Laiken's heart surgery is coming soon. August 28th to be exact. I am so nervous and scared yet so thankful that they are able to mend her little heart. I have a ton to say but don't really feel like pouring my heart out right now so I will keep it short. We have pre-op on the 27th and won't know what time surgery is until then so I will let you all know more as we know more. Please keep Laiken in your prayers.
